Problem gambling is turning into a national problem. Apparently, people are seeing that is the case, including casinos. At a meeting meant to take place at Mandalay Bay, some of those issues will be hammered out, and maybe somewhere along these lines there can be an amiable solution in fighting problem/pathological gambling. After all, the casinos should be concerned with promoting responsible gaming.
Christine Reilly, Executive Director for the National Center for Responsible Gaming conference, claims research helps create that scientific data that health professionals need to get ahead. This understanding will help them identify, and be able to treat or find a later solution to treat problem/pathological gambling.
In the past they didn’t have the right know how to answer the question of problem gambling. Now that it has become a problem many are unsure where that leaves them now. This is why they have the support of Mandalay Bay to conduct this conference and involve more people in their direction to create responsible gaming, and remove problem gambling.
The two-day program is meant to feature discussions on personal choice in addiction, the advancements in drug treatments for pathological gambling, self-exclusion programs, and even the idea of creating problem free gambling machines. All of this will be led by professionals in the field, and will be willing to answer questions on this matter. They are working hard to help solve problems, so that problem and pathological gambling doesn’t continue and become a bigger problem.
The National Center for Responsible Gaming was established in 1996 and is funded primarily by the gaming industry. The gaming and related businesses have contributed more than $15 million to this cause. The center has funded more than $12 million of their own money for more research on gambling disorders. Money is one thing, but knowledge is another, and that is the reason for the conference.
